Design and construction of intersection in a congested town area, including flyover with 81 m long bridge and 600 m of embankment on each side, slip roads, drainage works, traffic signalization and street lighting.
- Location: Abule Egba, Lagos, Lagos State
- Client: Lagos State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure
This flyover is a creative civil solution to the perpetual traffic gridlock that that distressed commuters and residents of Alimosho Local Government Area in the time past and stalled economic activities. The project included the construction of a flyover-bridge as well as an at-grade intersection to allow for the free flow of traffic in two directions on Lagos-Abeokuta expressway– to increase the capacity of traffic flow and reduce the traffic congestion in both of these directions. The project is complemented by an ultra-modern water fountain and street lighting making the bridge a remarkable sight to behold.
The construction of the flyover involved the erection of piles and beams up to 30 meters high, for which several types of concrete and additives were supplied to ensure optimal material performance.
The stunning structure was built using Accelerated Bridge Construction methods. This method of construction reduces potential risks to workers, commuters, and pedestrians and minimizes traffic interruptions, allowing us to finish construction 2 months ahead of schedule.
